Philosophy of Care:

Maxville Manor's philosophy of care is the same for all Residents. We strive to restore and maintain the highest level of functional independence while enhancing each resident's personal dignity and quality of life. Resident's rights and privacy are respected. We are totally committed to supporting Resident's needs as well as your needs as family. Each resident is encouraged to choose and participate in their care planning as much as possible.

The Organization of Resident Units:

As you walk through the front door into Town Square at Maxville Manor, you will feel the friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Our home is divided into six wings stemming from Town Square and the six wings comprise three units (two wings to one unit).

Each wing is named: Glengarry
                                     Prescott
                                     Stormont
                                     Osie F. Villeneuve
                                     Roxborough
                                     Kenyon
which consist of 120 beds plus 2 respite beds.
( see Floor plan)

Each unit has a Care Coordinator( registered nurse),Team Leader( registered nurse/ registered practical nurse) and four Personal Support workers. Each wing has their own dining room except Prescott and Osie F.Villeneuve  share a dining room. Each unit has a kitchenette which is served from the main kitchen. Snacks are served every afternoon and evening (fruits, cookies, juice, etc.).In town square , there is a coffee shop where residents can get coffee, tea, cookies etc Ice water is served to each room every day.

The rooms are furnished with a bed and a three drawer dresser. There is a call bell accessible from each room, washroom to summon help with any assistance of assisstance.  The rooms may be personalized by Residents or family with some furniture and pictures as long as they do not create a safety hazard for residents or staff. All appliances must have a CSA label attached, and upholstery, draperies, and bed coverings need to have a flame resistant label or be treated for flame retardancy.

Lounges are in each unit with a T.V.

The Special Care Unit consists of Glengarry and Stormont Wings, and
is dedicated to the care of residents experiencing cognitive impairment and who need the protection of a secure and stable environment. The unit is designed to reduce the amount of environmental stimuli, to maximize Resident's functioning, to allow residents to behave and interact within their individual capabilities and help them from displaying negative behaviours.
All staff are trained in meeting the needs of the cognitively ill .This unit is designed to allow wandering within a secure indoor space and garden.
Family members  and significant others are included in the care planning for Residents and are given support as required in dealing with a  resident's behaviour. Families are encouraged to visit frequently and to take Residents out of the unit as deemed beneficial for the resident.

The level of care varies between assistance and total assistance of " activities of daily living" ( bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring).
