Hair Dressing and Barber Services

A hairstylist is available for shampoos, sets, cuts and permanents. The Hairdressing salon is open Monday to Friday. You may make an appointment directly or through the nursing station in your area.

Please note that the costs for these services will be charged to your account


Residents have access to foot care services provided by registered professional staff trained in foot care. Foot care service is provided on referral, approximately every six weeks.

Optometry Services

Maxville Manor has arranged with an optometrist to provide on-site optometry services. The optometrist will visit when ten or more Residents are in need of visual care services. Services include eye exams and prescription eye glass service. Eye exams are billed through OHIP. Eyeglass costs are the responsibility of the Resident/family and prescription recommendations including consultation and billing arrangements are handled directly by the optometrist’s office. Residents have the choice of utilizing the on-site optometrist or an optometrist of their choice in the community for their visual care needs.

Dental Care

Maxville Manor has contracted with the Outreach Dental Group to provide on-site dental services for Maxville Manor Residents. Services include oral health assessments, cleaning, restorative work and personal identification of dentures. The Outreach Dental Group will contact the Resident and/or family directly regarding fees to deliver treatment. Residents have the choice of utilizing the Outreach Dental Group services or a dentist of their choice in the community for their dental health needs.

Newspaper Subscriptions

You may arrange for the delivery of newspapers to your room. This is something that is organized by the resident or the family. Please let the office manager know which paper you have subscribed for so we can ensure it is delivered to the correct resident. 


Each Resident or Family may arrange with Bell Canada to bring a personal telephone. A telephone jack is available at each bedside in all areas except Special Care. Arrangements for monthly billing are made directly with Bell Canada. Maxville Manor cannot be held responsible for initiating or closing a contract with Bell Canada on behalf of a Resident or ensuring bills are paid. At no time can Maxville Manor interrupt a Resident’s personal line, nor can we transfer you directly to their phone. 


There are a number of televisions for the use of Residents in designated lounges throughout Maxville Manor. Residents wishing a television in their room may do so at their expense as space is available. Arrangement for the connection, transfer and termination of cable are to be made at the main office.

Fax & Internet

Maxville Manor has a fax machine at the main office. Maxville Manor’s fax number is 613-527-3103. There will be a charge for sending long distance faxing. Fax messages addressed to Residents will be forwarded to Residents via the in-house mail delivery. Mail from the post office is delivered to each Resident by noon Monday to Friday

Volunteer assistance can be arranged by the Director of Outreach and Volunteer Services to assist Residents with the internet, email use and computer basics. A small number of email addresses are available for Residents use. Wifi is provided for Residents and visitors. 

Library Service 

Our library service is offered twice a month on every 2nd Tuesday. The various sitting rooms have many books available. In addition, the Seaway Valley Library supplies us with other books or they can arrange for special book requests. Large print and talking books are also available.
